The Trump administration’s apprehension numbers in its first full month reflect a 96% decrease from the Biden administration’s peak in December 2023, when CBP reported 301,981 encounters at the southern border.
Trump shared the news on TRUTH Social over the weekend.
“ILLEGAL BORDER CROSSINGS LAST MONTH WERE THE LOWEST EVER RECORDED. THANK YOU!!!” Trump posted.
“This means that very few people came – The Invasion of our Country is OVER,” Trump wrote in another TRUTH post. “In comparison, under Joe Biden, there were 300,000 Illegals crossing in one month, and virtually ALL of them were released into our Country. Thanks to the Trump Administration Policies, the Border is CLOSED to all Illegal Immigrants.”
“Anyone who tries to illegally enter the U.S.A. will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation,” the president wrote.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem says, “We’re just getting started.”
“February was the lowest month in recorded history for encounters at our border. The world is hearing our message: do not come to our country illegally. If you do, we will find you, arrest you, and send you back. Thank you President @realDonaldTrump for your strong leadership and to our brave@CBP officers and agents for keeping America safe,” Noem posted on X along with the president’s message.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared the news as well, saying “Remember when Joe Biden and Democrats said they needed a border bill to secure the border?”
