In a recent interview, President Trump stated that it’s too soon to determine whether he will endorse Vice President JD Vance as his potential successor for the 2028 election.
During an interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier, who spoke with Trump ahead of the Super Bowl, Baier asked, “Do you view Vice President JD Vance as your successor, the Republican nominee in 2028?”
Trump, 78, responded, “No, but he’s very capable.”
Trump continued, expressing admiration for a wide pool of talented individuals: “I think you have a lot of very capable people. So far I think he’s doing a fantastic job. It’s too early. We’re just starting.”
Baier pointed out, “By the time we get to the midterms, [Vance] is going to be looking for an endorsement.”
Trump, however, shifted focus, responding, “A lot of people have said that this has been the greatest opening — almost three weeks — in the history of the presidency.”
It seems that Trump may have deliberately refrained from endorsing Vance as his potential successor in order to avoid drawing attention to his constitutional limit of serving only two terms, with his second term ending in January 2029.
Though Trump has often suggested the idea of modifying the Constitution to allow him to run for a third term, it’s widely seen as a strategy to prevent the loss of influence that often accompanies the “lame duck” period.

No president commits to supporting his vice president as his successor at the beginning of his term.
According to the almost 90% majority of the American people’s satisfaction with President Trump, I highly doubt they’d let go of him after 2029. They’d have to be nuts to do so.
Vance is just forty years old, and hasn’t been in government that long.
Uh oh. Trouble brewing in paradise.
neh he’s keeping his cards close this time
President Trump’s surprising answer is because he will soon disclose the truth about the assassination of President JFK and will reveal that JFK jr who is still alive will replace Vance.
