President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk have thrown their support behind Vivek Ramaswamy in his bid to become the next governor of Ohio.
On Monday, Ramaswamy, who previously ran for the Republican presidential nomination, officially kicked off his campaign to secure the GOP nod for the 2026 race.
“VIVEK RAMASWAMY is running for Governor of the Great State of Ohio. I know him well, competed against him, and he is something SPECIAL. He’s Young, Strong, and Smart! Vivek is also a very good person, who truly loves our Country. He will be a GREAT Governor of Ohio, will never let you down, and has my COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
Trump had previously appointed both Musk and Ramaswamy to head the Department of Government Efficiency advisory team. Ramaswamy, a businessman who built a name in the biotech and financial sectors, later stepped down from that position to focus on his gubernatorial ambitions.
“Good luck, you have my full endorsement!” Musk posted on X, sharing Ramaswamy’s official campaign announcement.
Ramaswamy is vying to take over for Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, who is unable to seek re-election due to term limits.
A native of Cincinnati, Ramaswamy will face Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost in what is expected to be a competitive Republican primary in 2026.
