President Donald Trump denied a report that he paid $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017, and repeated his stance to only share his tax returns after an audit is finished.

“First of all, I’ve paid a lot and I’ve paid a lot of state income taxes too,” Trump said during a news conference on Sunday after The New York Times released a detailed report saying the president had paid no income tax in 10 of the 15 years before he was elected.

“The story is a total fake,” he said.

Trump was responding to a Times report published Sunday that he paid $750 in federal income taxes the year he ran for president and in his first year in the White House.

  1. there is 2 types of news these days
    1 -fake news
2 – partly fake news[but may be unclear which part, so assume fake until known which part is definitely not fake
    etc]

    • Sorry. In this country you are innocent until proven guilty. If anyone makes a claim against the president, or any one else, the burden of proof is on the claimant.

Besides which, what is the problem if he paid very little in taxes. If he didn’t pay the amounts his tax returns came out to – that’s a problem, but if his returns show him as legally owing only $750 – good for him! You think sleepy Joe, nutty Nancy, crooked Hillary, or no-experiece Hunter pay what they should on their millions or do they have good accountants making sure to find them tax shelters?

      • Obama did release his tax returns. Without me or anybody else asking. Every president in the last 50 years has released their tax returns, except for Trump.

    • Why should he release his taxes any more than you or me? A person’s tax returns are private and only the IRS has the right to probe and if some irregularities are found, audit & press charges.

  2. The Trump promoting media is claiming somethign else: That the returns were illegally leaked to the Times. If that is the case, the Trump is lying. (Again.)

The best take on this I have seen is from the comedian Mike Kaplan on Twitter: “turns out the president isn’t actually rich enough to own ANY libs.”

Many of us may have a greater net worth than Trump.
