In 2016, former President Trump expressed concerns about the possibility of a president facing indictment, which he believed would lead to a constitutional crisis, according to a review by CNN KFILE. Trump made these remarks about Hillary Clinton, who was a presidential candidate at the time, during a rally in Reno, Nevada on November 5, 2016.
During the rally, Trump stated, “We might have a situation where a president is indicted for a serious crime and eventually goes through a criminal trial. This would severely disrupt the functioning of our government.” Trump’s comments came shortly after then-FBI Director James Comey announced the reopening of an investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server and mishandling of classified information.
Clinton and other Democrats heavily criticized Comey’s decision, arguing that it played a significant role in her defeat in the 2016 presidential election. Fast forward to the present, Trump himself now faces federal charges after numerous documents, including classified ones, were discovered at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
Despite his legal battles in various courts across the country, Trump remains a leading contender for the Republican presidential nomination. Last month, he pleaded not guilty to 37 federal counts related to mishandling classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago. Trump maintains that the documents he took were declassified and within his rights to possess.
Additionally, Trump may potentially face another federal indictment for his alleged involvement in interfering with the transfer of power after the 2020 election, including the January 6, 2021, Capitol attacks. The specific charges in this case have not yet been announced but could further complicate Trump’s legal situation.
The remarks made in Nevada were not the only instance where Trump expressed concerns about a president under indictment. Similar comments were made during a rally in Concord, North Carolina on November 3, 2016, as discovered by CNN’s KFILE. Trump stated, “If she were to win, it would create an unparalleled constitutional crisis that would paralyze our government. She is likely to be under investigation for many years, and it will probably result — in my opinion — in a criminal trial. I mean, just look at the evidence. Who knows? But it certainly appears that way.”

Yeah…
Hey, Under indictment for a CRIME not for bein Trump !
Thank You Hashem for taking care of the Devil itself several years ago.
That was seven years ago. At that point in time government indictments were still respected and thought of as being impartial efforts to fight crime and corruption. Who today still thinks that way?
It’s sad that wasn’t obvious to whomever wrote this article.
