President-elect Donald Trump continued to announce appointments for his national security team on Wednesday, revealing that former Representative Tulsi Gabbard will be his choice for the position of director of national intelligence.
Gabbard, who previously served as the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, publicly supported Trump and switched her allegiance to the Republican Party late in the 2024 campaign. In this new role, she will be responsible for overseeing the country’s 17 intelligence agencies.
“I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength,” Trump remarked about Gabbard. She had been speculated as a potential candidate for positions such as defense secretary and CIA director.
