A press event in the Oval Office featuring President Trump ended abruptly on Friday when a young girl suddenly fainted, prompting immediate action from White House staff to clear out members of the media.
“Everybody out, please move,” a staffer instructed on the live video feed that was shared with reporters, after a child related to Dr. Mehmet Oz collapsed during the event.
“No photos!” was the follow-up directive given to the press by the aide.
Just moments before, Dr. Oz, age 64, had been officially sworn in as the new head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Following the ceremony, President Trump began fielding questions from reporters on a range of topics.
The girl who lost consciousness was later identified by People and TMZ as 11-year-old Philomena, Dr. Oz’s granddaughter.
During the Q&A, Trump had been emphasizing the importance of preventing Iran from developing nuclear capabilities.
