President Donald Trump delivered his sharpest message yet to Hamas, warning that the U.S. will strike the terror organization if it violates the fragile ceasefire that took effect Monday.
“If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them,” Trump wrote Thursday on Truth Social. “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The warning came amid disturbing reports and footage showing Hamas militants executing suspected “Gaza gang” collaborators—individuals allegedly accused of assisting Israel during the war that erupted on October 7, 2023.
Trump’s latest remarks built upon his earlier statements from Tuesday, when he said he had directly warned Hamas that it must surrender its weapons or face consequences.
“If they don’t disarm, we will disarm them. And it will happen quickly and perhaps violently,” Trump declared during a White House meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei.
Under the Trump-brokered ceasefire, Hamas released the final group of living Israeli hostages from Gaza on Monday, while Israel freed several buses of Palestinian prisoners. Yet Hamas has not publicly confirmed any move toward disarmament.
Trump insisted that the terror group had privately agreed to give up its weapons, as required by his 20-point peace framework.
“I spoke to Hamas, and I said, you’re going to disarm, right? Yes, sir, we’re going to disarm. That’s what they told me,” Trump said, explaining that the communication was relayed through mediators.
However, optimism surrounding Trump’s ceasefire plan has waned since his return Monday from visits to Israel and Egypt. Israel has tightened restrictions on aid and kept Gaza’s borders sealed, while renewed Hamas activity — including public executions — has signaled that the group still holds significant control over the enclave.
