“They” want to arrest me, former President Donald Trump wrote on his social media site Truth Social on Sunday.
“They want to interfere — to a point where Joe Biden is willing to arrest his opponent who is leading him in the polls by a very large number,” Trump wrote, citing his 2024 bid for the president.
The post contained a video featuring Trump delivering a speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition gathering on Saturday. Towards the end of his speech, he emphatically stated, “but we’re not going to let that happen.”
Trump’s statement referred to the 37-count indictment against him, alleging mishandling of classified documents. Special counsel Jack Smith accused Trump of refusing to comply with requests from the National Archives to return documents he took when he departed from the White House in January 2020.
Trump maintains that the documents belong to him and, as the president, he possessed the authority to declassify them under the Presidential Records Act. While Trump has provided conflicting statements about whether he took such action, he has at times asserted that he issued a blanket declassification order encompassing all the documents.
In the past, Trump has made numerous claims about a “stolen election” during the 2020 cycle when he was defeated by Democrat Joe Biden. Despite the lack of substantiated evidence supporting his claims of voter fraud, there is evidence suggesting that the intelligence community sought to influence the outcome of the 2020 election.
During Thursday’s testimony by IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley, it was revealed that the FBI had “verified” the contents of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop in November 2019, a full year before the 2020 election between Trump and President Joe Biden. Shapley also mentioned that a federal computer expert confirmed that the laptop had not been tampered with in any way.
In October and the days leading up to the 2020 election, 51 former members of the intelligence community signed a letter asserting that the Hunter Biden laptop story exhibited “classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” Following this, a media blackout occurred, as disclosed by the “Twitter Files.”
It was only in April 2023, in a letter addressed to Secretary of State Antony Blinken (formerly associated with the Biden campaign), that it was revealed the intelligence community had engaged in efforts to influence the election outcome.
Jim Jordan, the chair of the House Judiciary Committee and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, referenced testimony from former acting CIA Director Michael Morell in his letter. The testimony indicated that Blinken had reached out to Morell around October 17, 2020.
When asked in an interview whether he had intended to write the statement prior to Blinken’s call, Morell responded, “I did not.” He further confirmed that Blinken’s call triggered that intention within him.
Jordan’s letter also cited Morell’s statement that the intent behind the statement was twofold. Firstly, it aimed to express concerns to the American people about Russian interference, and secondly, it was intended to help Vice President Biden.
When questioned about his intention to help the vice president, Morell admitted, “Because I wanted him to win the election.”

They actually don’t. The only chance Biden has to be reelected is if Trump is nominated.
