President-elect Donald J. Trump on Tuesday urged Republicans to immediately repeal the Affordable Care Act—President Obama’s signature legislation—and replace it as “quickly” as possible. “We have to get to business,” he said, according to The New York Times. “Obamacare has been a catastrophic event.” The president-elect’s urging comes in contradiction to many Republican lawmakers, who either prefer to repeal the law and take time to negotiate a replacement, or, prefer to wait for that replacement before voting on a repeal. He further told the Times that the vote should happen “probably some time next week,” and that “the replace will be very quickly or simultaneously, very shortly thereafter.”

He added of the current law: “It’s a catastrophic event. I feel that repeal and replace have to be together, for very simply, I think that the Democrats should want to fix Obamacare. They cannot live with it, and they have to go together.” Read more at THE NEW YORK TIMES.
