The United Nations Human Rights Council’s Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory issued its first report on Tuesday, blaming Israel’s “occupation” for the protracted Arab-Israeli conflict.

Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, who chairs the commission, said, “The findings and recommendations relevant to the underlying root causes were overwhelmingly directed towards Israel, which we have taken as an indicator of the asymmetrical nature of the conflict and the reality of one state occupying the other.”

The 18-page report also claimed that Israeli actions, such as “forced displacement, threats of forced displacement, demolitions, settlement construction and expansion, settler violence, and the blockade of Gaza” fed “recurring cycles of violence.”

Israel’s failure to implement recommendation of past commissions and U.N. fact-finding bodies “is at the heart of the systematic recurrence of violations in both the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel,” the report claimed.

Commissioner Miloon Kothari said, “It is only with the ending of occupation that the world can begin to reverse historical injustices and move towards self-determination of the Palestinian peoples.”

Commissioner Chris Sidoti added: “Israel clearly has no intention of ending the occupation. In fact, it has established clear policies to ensure complete permanent control over the Occupied Palestinian Territory. This includes altering the demography of these territories through the maintenance of a repressive environment for Palestinians and a favorable environment for Israeli settlers.”

The report also noted that the Palestinian Authority uses the occupation as a justification for its own human rights violations “and as the core reason for its failure to hold legislative and presidential elections,” according to a U.N. press statement. Hamas, which rules in the Gaza Strip, has “shown little commitment to upholding human rights, and no adherence to international humanitarian law,” according to the report.

The Commission of Inquiry was established by the Human Rights Council on May 27, 2021 in the wake of Israel’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls.” It’s mandate is to investigate “all alleged violations of international humanitarian law and all alleged violations and abuses of international human-rights law leading up to and since” April 13, 2021 in Israel and areas it designates as occupied by Israel.

The COI will present its report to the 50th session of the Human Rights Council on June 13, 2022. JNS

  1. The fact that the UN exists in its current form, where they do nothing except to side with terrorism says a lot about the UN.

There is the Ukrainian Russian conflict, I don’t see any commissions about that. There is the China Taiwan Issues, but no UN commission on that. There is the Iranian terrorism threat throughout the middle East yet no commission.

Israel is trying to defend themselves against committed terrorists, yet the UN has the nerve to claim they are the issue.

    Shame on them.

  2. A study conducted by the Center for Common Sense and Decency found that the the United Nations Human Rights Council is one of the major root causes of crookedness in the UN and one of the main sources of support for evil regimes and wicked organizations worldwide.
“Unless the Human Rights Council is disbanded pretty soon, the world will continue in a downward spiral and reach self destruction quicker than one can imagine,” said Mr. Sane OfMind, President of the Center for Common Sense and Decency. “We need to see to it that this evil Council, consisting of members whose native countries are governed by the most ruthless individuals known to mankind, is disbanded quickly. And we better wake up and smell the coffee soon.”
Mr. Sane OfMind added that, contrary to the Human Rights Council’s claim, “Israel was forced into fighting more wars when its land mass was smaller.”
“Moreover, when you concede land to those who deny your existence – the way the PLO denied Israel’s existence prior to the ’67 war – your cooking your own goose,” Mr. Sane OfMind asserted.

  3. As crooked and corrupt as the UN may be, they are, of course, right that the Zionists should never have invaded the holy land (nobody invited them and the Jews, too, begged them to leave) and that is, indeed, the root cause of the unrest there.

That’s just facts. The Zionists were the ones who started up with the Arabs going back over a century, including causing the Chevron Massacre, as Rav Baruch Kaplan and others noted then (which obviously does not excuse the Arab savages who murdered those Yeshiva students, but that’s not the point here).

Once the Zionists did invade, they should not have then unilaterally declared their pseudo-state but waited until the nations gave their permission, and the Zionists also should not have expanded that pseudo-state beyond the borders allotted to them by nations in both that 1948 war and their subsequent wars.
