U.S. Dietary Guidelines: Cut the Sugar

sugarThe new U.S. dietary guidelines released 2015 maintain much of the same advice from five years prior, except for one big change: Americans are advised to limit sugar consumption to no more than 10 percent of there daily caloric intake.

The average citizen currently eats up to 22 teaspoons of sugar per day, meaning that in order to meet the new guidelines, individuals would need to cut their daily sugar intake in half.

Additionally, the guidelines suggest people should consume more fruits and vegetables, more fiber, less salt, and proteins like lean red meat, eggs, and seafood. Read more at CNN.
