A Russian drone attack caused a power outage in the city of Uman, Ukraine, and surrounding areas while hundreds of Jews made their way to the kever of Rav Nachman of Breslov.
“There is no deadline for the electricity to return,” said Rav Nosson Bin-Nun, the chairman of United Breslov.
The attack, which directly targeted the city’s energy infrastructure, occurred at around 2:00 a.m. local time, even though the Ukrainian military managed to intercept the majority of the drones.
“The damage is very significant,” reported local news outlets.
Today, Breslover chassidim commemorate Rav Nosson of Breslov’s first visit to the kever of his rebbi, Rav Nachman.
“Because it is so close to Shabbos, we expect that there will be an unusually high number of visitors this year,” said Rav Nosson Tzemach, the caretaker of the gravesite. “We are preparing to provide electricity to the areas of the gravesite, by using special generators,” Rav Bin-Nun assured. “In the meantime, the residents and visitors are forced to use emergency lights and means of warmth, just like at the start of the war.”
