A major storm burst after Meretz used a particularly ugly campaign tactic in the municipal elections for Kfar Saba.
In a call to keep chareidim out of the city, street signs displayed pictures of UTJ chairman Yitzchok Goldknopf, Shas chairman Aryeh Deri, and Noam chairman Avi Moaz, with the caption “No entry to Kfar Saba.”
Even a Maariv reporter sarcastically tweeted: “To sum up the sign uproar: Meretz will keep Kfar Saba free by denying the religious freedom. The most liberal and pluralistic [party] in the world.”
Unfazed, Meretz of Kfar Saba said in response: “We will not let the coalition members do whatever they want in the city. Kfar Saba will remain the freest and most liberal city in Israel. There is no entry here for such dark agendas.”
