rabbi-david-niedermanIn response to Mayor Bloomberg’s report that Williamsburg has the lowest Census form return rate in New York City at 31.3%, The United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg (UJO) and the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty (Met Council) have partnered to educate the community on the extreme importance of completing the Census form.

In addition to continuing urging the community to complete the forms, flyers are being distributed in schools and public places stressing the importance, of every individual participating in the U.S. Census.

The President of the UJO Rabbi David Niederman said, “Due to the fact that many families received the Census form during the bustle of Passover preparations, the form wasn’t returned in a timely manner and may feel they missed their chance to fill out the form. We are strongly encouraging everyone who comes into the UJO to comply with the Census and urging every single Williamsburg household to fill out and return the Census form at once- before the April 15th deadline. By filling out the form you are ensuring an additional $3,000 per person paying for vital community services reach the community.”
