United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged an “urgent humanitarian pause” in the Gaza Strip on Monday, marking the 100th day of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Speaking at a press conference in New York, Guterres emphasized the immediate need for a ceasefire to ensure the delivery of essential aid, facilitate the release of hostages, and prevent further escalation. He expressed deep concern about the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, stating that it goes “beyond words.”
Highlighting the severe impact on UN Palestinian Arab staff, Guterres revealed that the majority had evacuated their homes, with 152 staff members killed since October 7. This toll represents “the largest single loss of life in the history of our organization.”
Guterres raised alarm about the challenges faced in delivering aid to the traumatized population, asserting that Gaza is now on the brink of starvation. He firmly stated, “Nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.”
The UN Secretary-General has previously criticized Israel during the conflict, drawing attention to Hamas’ attack on Israel and suggesting a connection between the two. After facing backlash, Guterres clarified that his comments were misinterpreted and affirmed his condemnation of Hamas. Nevertheless, he continued to criticize Israel, questioning the high civilian casualties in Gaza and asserting that something is “clearly wrong” with Israel’s response to the October 7 attack.
Last month, Guterres invoked Article 99 of the UN Charter to prompt the Security Council’s intervention in ending the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. In response, then-Foreign Minister Eli Cohen accused Guterres of endangering world peace, alleging that his actions supported the Hamas terrorist organization and facilitated violence against civilians. Cohen strongly criticized Guterres, linking his call for a ceasefire to detrimental consequences such as the murder of the elderly, kidnapping of babies, and assault of women.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is an IDIOT. He should know what’s going on but he doesn’t even know where he is. He actually isn’t as stupid as he looks or pretends to be but when your taking bribes from rich arab and mooslim terrorist states then you gotta do what they tell you to do.
Stop talking fat man no one likes you
nothing can justifies….but they wanted war …they started it…(an ex islamist from gaza that run away from there said that each familie over there has a member that is a part of hamas)and hamas didnt surender and gave back the hostages….so we gotta have to finish mister
why arent you using your power to exige the surrender of hamas right now…if you have so much pity over these people…and that will have also avoided losses by us
Why doesn’t this fat pig call for a ceasefire in Somalia? Are the Somalian lives worth less than the Jordanians living in Gaza?
America is shaking in their boots and terrified from the demands of the chief of the UnitedNothings who stored rockets in Gaza schools.
Who should ceasefire Israel or Hamas? Obviously Israel but Hamas should continue firing and digging tunnels. Drop dead mr dishonorable un chief
Why doesnt he call for immediate release of all hostages?
