The UN envoy to the Middle East Nickolay Mladenov says the UN is working with Egypt to “provide calm for the region, with the understanding that this is what will prevent the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.”

According to the report, Israel has not yet allowed additional types of merchandise into Gaza, even though the agreement had Israel allowing it from Sunday.

Last week, Israel prevented millions of balloons from being smuggled into Gaza, and 4,000 Gazans took part in violent riots on the Gaza-Israel border. Both incendiary balloons and border riots were to have ended as part of the ceasefire agreement.

For its part, Egypt is pressing Israel to implement the agreements, a senior Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine source told Al Quds.
