Following the circulation of a photo online on Thursday showing a Hamas terrorist wearing a United Hatzalah sweatshirt during the hostage release, United Hatzalah’s CEO Eli Beer issued a statement addressing the matter. The image, captured in the midst of the crowd during the event, caused alarm as it depicted a Palestinian individual in Gaza wearing the organization’s distinct sweatshirt.
Beer promptly clarified that the person in the photograph is not affiliated with United Hatzalah in any capacity. After conducting an internal investigation, the organization concluded that the sweatshirt was most likely stolen on October 7th from the home of one of their volunteers living near Gaza. While Beer assured the public that there is no immediate security threat, he stressed the importance of making the situation known.
United Hatzalah, an esteemed emergency medical service in Israel, has a longstanding commitment to providing aid to all communities, irrespective of religion or background.
