
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) on Friday called for nearly $100 million in emergency aid in response to the socio-economic fallout stemming from the coronavirus.
UNWRA, which was left severely crippled in 2018 after the Trump administration decided to cancel all US funding to the organization, said it was facing the “worst financial crisis in its history.”
The UN agency is responsible for managing schools and providing medical aid to some five million Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and Gaza Strip.
