In what is becoming an increasingly nasty grudge match, the White House is mulling ways to undercut Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu’s upcoming trip to Washington and blunt his message that a potential nuclear deal with Iran is bad for Israel and the world.

There are limits. Administration officials have discarded the idea of President Barack Obama himself giving an Iran-related address to rebut the two speeches Netanyahu is to deliver during his early March visit. But other options remain on the table.

Among them: a presidential interview with a prominent journalist known for coverage of the rift between Obama and Netanyahu, multiple Sunday show television appearances by senior national security aides and a pointed snub of America’s leading pro-Israel lobby, which is holding its annual meeting while Netanyahu is in Washington, according to the officials.

The administration has already ruled out meetings between Netanyahu and Obama, saying it would be inappropriate for the two to meet so close to Israel’s March 17 elections. But the White House is now doubling down on a cold-shoulder strategy, including dispatching Cabinet members out of the country and sending a lower-ranking official than normal to represent the administration at the annual policy conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the officials said.

  1. At this point it is looking very immature of the Obama administration to keep harping on this speech. Its going to happen whether they like it or not. Its time to move on. There are more pressing needs to take care of then this one little speech. This is either, ego’s gone amuck or just an out and out hatered for the State of Israel. At this point, why should the WH care

  2. Our President is a low life person who not only dislike Jews, but is extremely haughty, has little knowledge, and thus acts in inappropriate manners constantly. Shame on you, Mr. President.

  3. First, he demonstrates his loathing of Netanyahu.
Second, he expands his rage to include AIPAC.
Third, ??? Perhaps a little hint of antisemitic disdain to Jews at large, including American citizens?

Obama is not a good President. He has regularly rewarded the guilty and punished the innocent.

Obama is not a good person. He is allowing his searing hatred of Netanyahu to place an entire country at risk of nuclear annihilation.

It’s a shame that the party which had Joe Lieberman as its Vice Presidential nominee just fifteen years ago is rapidly sliding towards the barely-veiled contempt toward Jews that’s so common in European countries.

  4. I’m not understanding why Natanyahu hadn’t signed an order to throw all Obama’s campaign people OUT of EY. Give them 2 hours to leave.

  5. Bibi, come to my house. It’s white, but not so fancy. I will honor you and treat you with respect. I will see to it you will feel good, even though I will tell you one or two things about how to treat B’nei Yeshiva in Eretz Yisroel. See you soon!

  6. HKB”H is in total control and there is no need to worry what the Kenyan says or doesn’t say. I agree with the above commentor that we definitely need to do Teshuva and then there is no need to worry.

  7. Yeah, for Obama, this Netanyahu speech, like the construction of residential buildings on Israeli territory, is a threat to world peace.

A nuclear Iran? Ignoring the ISIS? Building up Hamas is the Gaza? Promoting the Muslim Brotherhood? In Obama’s eyes, there are worthy initiatives that promote world peace.

The crazy thing about all this? If a Jihadi crazy had the opportunity, he’d surely cut off Obama’s head in an instant!

  8. It’s shameful that the White Horse doesn’t just say, “While I am not eager for Netanyahu’s speech at this time, he needs to protect his nation and thus the speech will move forward!” In essence that is what it is so why not pull the bull by the horns and call it as it is!
By not doing so he’s just proving that his primary concern is not that the Israeli elections are just two weeks away and the speech may influence the election: this has to prove that it’s outright dislike for Netanyahu.
