The following letter is shared at the request of Mr. Shimshe Lubowsky of Foodex in Lakewood. As per Mr. Lubowsky, there seems to be a lot of misinformation that is causing quite a stir. The scam mentioned in the earlier Matzav.com post does not involve Foodex, but the way the information is currently presented has led to confusion and has been quite detrimental to the store’s reputation. This has led to numerous phone calls and falsehoods being spread about the store and its wonderful employees. Thus, we share the following letter, which sheds additional light on the situation:
This has been going on for months in Ohio and in other states. I personally know 2 families in Cleveland that had money stolen from their EBT cards in November. It is only surprising that this hasn’t happened in Lakewood until now.
THIS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH FOODEX –
I RECEIVED THE SUMMER EBT CARD 2 WEEKS AGO & ACTIVATED THE CARD WITH A PIN AND CONFIRMED THE AMOUNT OF FUNDS ON CARD – CARD WAS NEVER USED IN ANY STORE – I CALLED AGAIN YESTERDAY TO CONFIRM THE AMOUNT ON CARD – ITS ZERO BALANCE & NO TRANSACTIONS –
SIMPLE PUT THE EBT SYSTEM WAS HACKED. HATZLCHA TO FOODEX
