RE: TOEIVAH MARRIAGE BILL

Our information is that the New York State Senate is planning to vote today on a bill that would legalize toeivah marriage. This bill is both morally and legally unacceptable, and could lead to serious negative consequences. The bill has already passed the State Assembly and has the support of the Governor, so if it passes the Senate today it will become law.

We urge you to take a minute right now and:

1. Call Senate Democratic leader John Sampson at 518-455-2788. Tell whoever answers that the Senator should be told that our community is opposed to the passage of the toeivah marriage bill.

2. Call Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos at 518-455-3171. Tell whoever answers that our community is watching closely how every Republican Senator votes on this defining issue, and that we ask Senate Minority Leader Skelos to do all in his power to assure that all Republicans stand firm against this bill.

3. Please then pass this along to as many friends as you can who are likely to make similar calls.

Together, with siyata d’Shmaya, we can help defeat this pernicious legislation.

REALLY? you’re going to use the word “toeivah” in a conversation with a goy??

Maybe if we spent some more time talking to people in their own language they would listen to us.

    What gaivah.

  2. I just called both offices. They each said they are opposed to it as well. Skelos’s office wondered why everyone is calling if they are adamantly opposed to it.

  3. i just called!!!
    they answer right away!!
you wont be on the line forever!!
    plzz call!!
they really do take what you have to say into CONSIDERATION!!!!

  4. Re #2

    “It’s all across the US.”

Nonsense! The overwhelming majority of Americans from all walks of life oppose the evil agenda in favor of same-gender unions.
Put pressure on your elected officials.
Let them know we’ll vote them out of office
if they continue to support this immorality.

    Remind your elected officials that
    toeivah marriage is against American
law (DOMA–Defense Of Marriage Act passed
by US Congress) and God’s law.

  5. It is important to oppose politicians
    in favor of such immorality.

The overwhelming majority of Americans from all walks of life have rejected and continue to reject legalization of sodomy.

It is universally recognized that marriage is exclusively between a man and woman. All referendums across the nation verify
    this normal tradition.

For example, a recent referendum in
California rejected the evil toeivah marriage proposal and reiterated the support of marriage as a union exclusively between a man and woman.

    Orthodox Jews must affirm their
rights together with other religious and conservative Americans in opposition to evil and in favor of morality as demanded by
    the RIBONO SHEL OHLEM.

    Let all God-fearing citizens
demand that our elected officials stop trampling on our cherished traditions. Otherwise, vote the rascals out of office.

    May God bless America!
    May God bless Israel!
    Praise HASHEM!
    Shalom, Dr. Arnold Berger
    P.S.
A similar vote by the people of Maine once again reaffirms that normal people in the United States do not want their government officials changing the definition of marriage for the sake of pandering to the wicked.

  6. Using Loshon Nekiya on this site is more than appropriate. Very sad that you choose to hurl and epithet of “gaivah” in a show of self-righteous, “I would never do such a thing” sputtering.

If you truly are involved in kiruv, as I am, you would have some more tact and commonsense in realizing that no one uses the term “Toevah” in conversation with one who does not similarly use the term. What a really absurd assumption…

In Kiruv, self control from jumping to conclusions, as well as judging favorable and a large helping of common sense goes a long way.

  7. One of the 7 Noachide laws is illicit relations. It is common sense that male toevah is included. But nevertheless the Rabbinic literature clearly lists male toevah as one of the 6 illicit acts included in this Noachide law.

In fact, it is stated that it is included in Noahide Laws in Mesechtes Chullin 92a.

In addition to Mesechtes Chullin 92a saying toeva is against the 7 mitzvos bnei noach, it says the same in Asarah Ma’amaros, Ma’amar Chikur Din 3:21. It is also said by Rabbeinu Shmuel bar Hofni HaKohen, one of the last Geonim in Sura.

  8. “REALLY? you’re going to use the word “toeivah” in a conversation with a goy??

Maybe if we spent some more time talking to people in their own language they would listen to us.”

What is the problem? If you are speaking to someone not familiar with the Hebrew language of the Torah, you can just use the English word for toeivah – abomination.
