The U.S. Navy dedicated one of its guided missile destroyers to Sen. John McCain on Thursday.

The ship is one of the of two destroyers that were involved in fatal accidents last year in the Pacific. The ship was first named after McCain’s father and grandfather after it launched in 1994.

“Today, we add the story of Senator John S. McCain to the spirit of the mighty vessel which already carries the legacy of his father and grandfather,” Navy Secretary Richard Spencer said of the honor in a press release.

“As a warrior and a statesman who has always put country first, Sen. John McCain never asked for this honor, and he would never seek it. But we would be remiss if we did not etch his name alongside his illustrious forebears, because this country would not be the same were it not for the courageous service of all three of these great men,” Spencer continued.

  1. THE BOTTOM LINE IS TRUMP IS CORRECT WHEN HE SAYS MCCAIN IS NOT A HERO.

McCain, when a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy was a Navy pilot (they call themselves aviators). July 29, 1967 while on the deck and in his plane on the carrier U.S.S. Forrestal he managed to screw up procedures (officially denied and covered up by him and the Navy and also even promoted on Wikipedia if you care to look–reason to follow). He did a smart punk attention getting trick by doing a “wet start” up of his jet.

This stunt and aftermath caused the death of 134 sailors and seriously injure (blow off arms legs, cause blindness and burns to another 161 sailors) and took the ship off the battle line for extensive repairs. Any other Navy pilot causing this type of death and destruction he would probably still be in the brig. Why not McCain? Well, first with many powerful connections this “little infraction” was covered up by the Navy (our most politically involved/connected service by the way).

You see his grandfather was a famous FOUR STAR Navy admiral and his dad was at the time of the incident was a powerful Navy FOUR STAR admiral and McCain graduated from the Navy Academy. So the old boy Navy tradition cover him network went into high gear immediately; and make no mistake, it does exist and it did for him.

There is so much more on McCain but it would take too much to cover. The bottom line is Trump is correct when he says McCain is NOT a hero. Sure Trump is a huge pain, but it does not mean he does not know what he is talking about either. It is possible McCain did some sort of heroic type effort survival things like living through torture as did so many others during their capture–but he sure is NOT a hero. Being a P.O.W. is not being a hero.

  2. “As a warrior and a statesman who has always put country first, Sen. John McCain never asked for this honor, and he would never seek it”

What a ridiculous statement! McCain is out on medical leave while he is dying from terminal brain cancer and yet he refuses to resign his senate seat thereby allowing for the appointment of a new senator to actually represent the people of Arizona. Obviously, he is more interested in the glory of dying as a sitting US senator then doing what is right and resigning because he can no longer represent the people who elected him. Clearly, he does care a great deal about his honor. The republicans can’t say it because it’s not politically sensitive to call a dying man and former POW a selfish man. While, the Democrats will not say it because they are thrilled that McCain’s selfishness is cutting down the Republican’s razor thin majority in the Senate by one. But the people of Arizona should call out McCain for what he and all politician are; a bunch of glory & power seeking individuals who feign concern for the constituents the a supposed to serve.

    • The bigger chutzpah is that he already appointed his wife to replace him without the consent of the people in his district. Hope they won’t allow it.

  3. The Navy is run by racists. Why did they name it after a WHITE racist, McCain, instead of an African-American hero Barack Obama?!
