The U.S. Mission to the United Nations announced Sunday that it negotiated a major reduction in the U.N.’s budget for the upcoming fiscal years.

According to a statement from the mission, the 2018-2019 U.N. budget will have a $285 million reduction from the previous two years.

One of the Trump administration’s goals has been to reduce the amount of contributions that the U.S. makes to the U.N. The U.S. currently provides for about 22 percent of the annual budget, or about $3.3 billion per year, according to PolitiFact.

  1. Why does the US need to negotiate a reduction ? Just stop giving it? Who exactly do we negotiate with to get permission to stop funding our enemies???

  2. That’s less than a 10% reduction in the US’s budget to the UN Hopefully, the resident can “negotiate” a greater reduction in subsequent years – like maybe 100%.

  3. Who are we negotiating with, we can also put a sign up this place is closed for business, and build some nice housing development or condos on the spot, United States still owns the land. The world has internet service and they can do business that way and just meet once a year in Madison Square Garden or large enough place, and then let them all go home after that. They don’t have to live in New York , for they most of the time disrupt the city.

    • Incorrect. The property on which the UN building stands is owned by a Chasidishe Yid. He is getting a lot of rent money all of these years.
