The United Torah Judaism party has filed a request with Knesset officials to approve its split into its two constituent factions Wednesday.

The move, which is expected to be approved, will end the joint UTJ list in the 20th Knesset, leaving in its place the Degel Hatorah and Agudas Yisrael factions.

UTJ party officials said that the move was “procedural”, and would not hamper negotiations towards renewing the alliance for this year’s Knesset election.

    • It’s a procedural thing, not sure why the media is all up in arms about it.

They do it by every election. The reason is because they want to have an equal amount of polling station workers and receive an equal amount of state grants to spend on campaigning.
