Bnei Brak Mayor Avrohom Rubenstein and leaders of health and emergency organizations including United Hatzalah the Ma’ayanei Hayeshuah Hospital decided that vehicles can no longer rely on flashing blinkers when travelling on Shabbos to indicate that they are tending to emergencies. Unscrupulous people were doing the same to travel through Bnei Brak on Shabbos without hindrance.

Emergency vehicles must now bear signs with prominent logos specifying what the vehicle is designated for and why it is traveling on Shabbos.

  1. I don’t understand this article. If it’s an emergency vehicle (e.g. an ambulance), that in itself is should be proof. If it’s a private vehicle (such as someone rushing a pregnant woman or an accident victim to the hospital), how can they take the time to print and/or hang a sign on their car? And what’s to prevent someone from hanging a fake sign?

  2. Some people drive ambulance in order to confuse the public and drive on Shabbat. I don’t approve. Reckless behavior by the frums.
