Verrazano Bridge to Close Sunday

verrazano bridgeRoad closures are scheduled for all boroughs this Sunday as tens of thousands of runners from around the world converge on city streets for the 2015 TCS NYC Marathon.

With Staten Island serving as the starting line, closures will be coming to the Verrazano Bridge, Staten Island Expressway exits and several North Shore roads.

The Verrazano Bridge’s upper level will be closed to all vehicular traffic beginning tonight, Nov. 1, at 11 p.m. to allow for road preparations for the race. On Sunday, both levels will be closed between 7 a.m. and approximately 3 p.m.

(Port Authority bridges will remain open through the race.)

Staten Island Expressway

The Bay Street and Lily Pond Avenue exits on the Staten Island Expressway will close at 3 a.m. Sunday and reopen at around 3 p.m.

Motorists can call the Verrazano-Narrows Marathon Traffic Hotline at 718-692-5656 to hear information about the closures.

Those who need help finding an alternate route should call 511 or visit the website at 511NY.org. For other marathon-related roadway closures throughout the city, call the NYC hotline at 311.
