[Videos and photos below.] The bond between the Lakewood, NJ, community and Chai Lifeline was strenghthened last night with a massive event for the organization at Bais Faiga Hall in Lakewood. An overflow crowd turned out to pay tribute to Chai Lifeline , which is always there for families facing illness or tragedy, r”l.
The event was chaired by Rav Hershel Hisiger, R”M at Mesivta of Lakewood, who introduced Rav Yeruchem Olshin, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, who shared divrei bracha. The gathered crowd heard from Rabbi Simcha Scholar, Executive Vice President of Chai Lifeline, and R’ Sruli Fried of Chai Lifeline Lakewood presented awards to Mr. Kevin Cummings of Investor’s Savings Bankand Dr. Peter C. Phillips, MD, Director of Neuro-Oncology Program at CHOP, who received the Community Service Award.
R’ Psachya Skaist presented a personal video documentary titled “Trials and Triumphs – A Father’s Perspective” about how his family dealt with their son’s illness and Chai Lifeline’s vital role during that time. The inspiring and moving video had attendees in tears.
Also at the event, R’ Hershel Herskowitz was presented with an award for dedicating a room in the Chai House in memory of his parents.
The guest speaker was Rav Eitan Feiner, mara d’asra of Cong. Knesses Yisroel, The White Shul, in Far Rockaway, NY, whose powerful drasha ended the event, which will remain etched in the psyches of all those present, who gained a new appreciation for the one-of-a-kind organization that is Chai Lifeline.
