A well known Shul in Queens went up in flames on Thurday afternoon.
Bais Yosef D’Ulem, led by Rav Yaakov Friedman, is located in the Kew Garden Hills neighborhood of Queens. At approximately 3:20 PM on Thursday a fire broke out, causing heavy damage to the building.
The Sifrei Torah were not damaged in the blaze, as they were thankfully protected by a safe.
Losing the Shul is a tremendous loss for the entire Kew Gardens Hills community, who had come to rely on its nonstop Shacharis minyanim that service the greater Queens community.
