Virgin Galactic successfully conducted its inaugural commercial space journey on Thursday, catapulting its first group of paying passengers into the vast expanse beyond Earth. This momentous achievement signifies a significant stride forward for the company, following a previous setback in 2021 when an earlier mission, featuring renowned entrepreneur Richard Branson and others, encountered a deviation from its intended trajectory, necessitating a return to Earth and prompting a subsequent investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration. Consequently, the company experienced a period of grounding for several weeks, during which it grappled with financial losses while diligently preparing for future commercial operations, aiming to offer seats at a price point of $250,000 each.

The recent launch was made possible through the collaboration with the Italian Air Force, which provided the requisite funding. Among the passengers on this remarkable voyage were two Air Force personnel, an engineer from Italy’s National Research Council, and a Virgin Galactic astronaut instructor. Departing from Virgin Galactic’s spaceport situated in New Mexico, the spacecraft aimed to traverse a distance of 50 miles above the Earth’s surface—a boundary recognized by the U.S. government as the outer reaches of space.

  1. In the same month that another extreme tourism mission failed abysmally, I would think they would be wise to change the price tag from the familiar number of $250,000 per seat. I don’t think they would lose any business if they’d raise the price to $300,000.

  2. Dumb arrogant people. They think that only those that attempt to go to the oceans depths die. How do they know that they won’t blow up?

  3. Yes. This is worse than insanity.

Just to go where few have cared to go. What is life anyhow.

These are by far some of the worst examples of human beings due to no sense for real safety and the dog to spend that kind of money on such a cross endeavor.
