Bnei Brak – Speaking at seudah shlishis yesterday at a large tent set up at the Vizhnitzer Bais Medrash in Bnei Brak, the Vizhnitzer Rebbe, Rav Yisroel Hager, said not to fear the efforts of those trying to draft yeshiva bochurim into the Israeli army.
“There are a lot of frightened parents who come to me and relate that they have received summonses from the army. I want to reiterate my position: Do not respond to any letter, not the first, not the second, and not the third. There are also those who are afraid of being arrested and being threatened that their sons will go to jail. I’m telling you not to be afraid.
“There are those who tell me that the army opened a new section for bnei yeshivos. Apparently, there are only men in that division, and they put seforim and all kinds of good things to make it look suitable for yeshiva bochurim… Even to the division for bnei yeshivos…I will not let [a bochur] go.”
