On Tuesday morning, at 5:30 am, Ami Magazine gave literal meaning to the phrase “stop the presses”, by pausing their print production in support of Camp HASC’s “#Break4HASC” campaign.

Ami is the latest to take a part in the now-viral challenge, joining numerous Jewish personalities and businesses in support of the legendary camp.

“As soon as we heard about this challenge we jumped at the opportunity” says Zack Blumenfeld, director of marketing & advertising for AMI magazine. “Our print operator was enthusiastic about the idea when we explained to him what Camp HASC does for the campers and their families”

“When we heard about the wonderful #Break4HASC campaign, we were only too happy to join”, said Ami “Lunch Break” host, Nesanel Gantz. “Camp HASC is an extraordinary place that gives so many people a well-deserved and much-needed break, and we wanted to do our part to help raise funds and awareness.”

For those unfamiliar, the #Break4HASC challenge is to dare anyone to take a break from something important, where it seems almost counterintuitive to be stopping or pausing, and taking that moment to raise awareness on behalf of Camp HASC. Upon completing the challenge, they can post the video online and nominate three other people who will pay it forward and donate more money if they so wish.

All this, of course, is a lead-up to July 29th, when Camp HASC will be running a 36-hour CauseMatch fundraiser. Each dollar donated will be quadrupled by a group of generous donors, with a goal of $1 million raised.

If you’d like to partake in the challenge, here’s something to get you started:

It’s a simple 5 step process:

1: Film.

2: Take a Break

3: Make a Pledge

4: Nominate a friend or nemesis

5: Share it on your social feeds

Film yourself for up to 30-50 seconds taking a break or interrupting an important daily task for example: Stop a boardroom meeting. Shut down a store mid-day. Or stop your car in middle of the road… actually, don’t do that. Use your creativity and imagination.

Then challenge your friend, nemesis and social connections to do the same in solidarity with Camp Hasc’s July 29 campaign,.

Raise awareness and encourage social giving. When you’re done, please share your video on your social status and send it to [email protected]

1…2….3….Break!
