  1. 1) First came the pledge – with the words “under G-d”.

    2) Pennsylvania is a patriotic place. It hasn’t been as infected by extreme liberalism at much as New York.

    3) Fitting for such bochurim to sing of the land of the free, as ר’ יהושע בן לוי teaches us in פרק שנו חכמים that אין לך בן חורין אלא מי שעוסק בתלמוד תורה.

  2. The anthem speaks to American values such as all men are created equal. I also laud Phillys coaching its students to hold themselves higher as bnei Torah. Some alumni sometimes forget that this means only to raise up themselves but to never talk disparagingly to another Yid.
