A Jewish education and community center is working to bounce back after vandals ransacked the place early Thursday morning.

To make matters worse — the vandals targeted Chabad on the Plaza right in the middle of Chanukah.

While there’s never a good time for an act like this to happen, it’s especially disappointing during the holiday.

The damage is extensive.

The person, or persons, who damaged the center ripped out electrical wires and tossed books and papers, all while water poured out of damaged pipes.

But leaders at Chabad on the Plaza are promising to bounce back.

In a message on the center’s Facebook page, leaders announced they’re setting up a temporary home for the center, and in doing so, hope to strengthen the bond among the people who learn and gather there.

A police investigation is underway to determine who damaged the center — and why.

A fundraising campaign is already up and running, aiming to raise $54,000 in 54 hours to establish an interim location for Chabad on the Plaza.
