Questions &/or comments: 1-if the garbage can is closed, and you open it to add more goodies, then you’re not capturing anything new, since nothing will fly in in those few seconds the lid is up. 2-כבוד הבריאות – open garbage cans are smelly. 3-if the garbage can or dumpster is outdoors, and especially in the country or the mountains, you have to keep the lids shut well so dangerous animals like bears don’t visit.
