Fifty-three (53) percent of NYC police belong to a minority group; African, Mexican, or Asian American. Defunding the PD would put many of these individuals’ financial situations at risk; unemployment, no raises or increased benefits, etc. Could it be that #defundthebpolice is a racist movement? Or could it be that it is a way to push through relief bills (i.e. increased taxes on the wealthy) in order to make even the independent individuals – those who have made something of themselves – dependent on programs?
How about defunding the Mayor’s office instead?
