  1. Why did the driver of the black car proceed ahead of the fire truck sirens were quite audible for some time beforehand??!!

    • If you pay any attention to the video at all. you would see the fire men coming from behind the car. clearly he was trying to move out of the way. if you would also pay attentions to the sound track. you can hear the sirens getting louder even after the truck stopped! further proof that he was moving out of the for it! Point 3 i would like to make a fire truck is required by law to stop by a red light/ stop sign!

  2. Sorry Mr. Driver, you failed to yield. You are wrong. There is absolutely no excuse not to have stopped. 100% guilty.

    • All of the chachomim here seem to know more than what first responders themselves know. All you fools know what is going to happen before you watch the clip, so everyone is quick to decide that the driver was reckless and is 100% at fault. What first responders are taught is that when you approach an intersection that does not have a light or a stop sign, you DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH untill you see that the traffic notices you. People in the vehicles may not hear the siren from their angle, especially if they are not specifically trying to listen out for a siren. Furthermore, there may be insufficient time to safely stop by the time they realize.
@ Selfish, Wong & Seichel – next time think before you post, or don’t post at all if you have nothing intelligent to add!

  3. The driver of the car is an idiot and deserved it. A real chuchum who was too busy to wait for truck weighing a few tons with sirens blaring barreling down the street.

    • Sir, you are the idiot here!
Were you too busy watching the clip over and over to care to examine what happened! Don’t be so quick to pass judgment and say “he deserved it”. Sounds like a a klala to me. Watch what you hope for!!

  5. I can’t speak from the perspective of the driver but from experience, it’s sometimes very difficult to determine which direction the siren is coming from (especially in a noisy intersection). You need to be cautious but also not slow traffic if the fire truck is behind you. I’m not sure what the protocol is but if the fire truck was going against a red it perhaps should have slowed down. I don’t know if you can assign blame based on these videos alone.

  6. To all the mental midgets out there: due to limitations of geometry and absence of the superman’s x-ray vision, the car driver had no way of seeing the firetruck until he was in the middle of the intersection. As far as sirens blaring, it’s New York we are talking about, where there are always sirens and it’s impossible to tell which direction they are coming from, such a siren of the previous firetruck that already passed the intersection 15 seconds before the collision. So, it makes perfect sense that the car driver thought that the incoming firetruck’s siren was from the truck that just left the intersection a few seconds ago, and the car-driver, who was driving through the main thoroughfare by the way, could not have seen the incoming firetruck on the perpendicular side street with a stop sign on it by the way, and the said firetruck was completely out of view 150 feet over the corner when the car entered the intersection. The firetruck was driving through a minor street with a stop sign on it, and the firetruck had a responsibility to exercise caution when approaching the main thoroughfare – siren or not, firetrucks don’t have a license to kill. Instead, the firetruck drove at 40 miles an hour, without any attempt to slow down and get his bearings before entering the main thoroughfare intersection and the pedestrian crossing with pedestrians being there literally a second ago, without any attempt to brake when the car was obviously in the way, and without any attempt to avoid the collision by steering slightly to the right. The firetruck driver is obviously a dangerous cowboy, who should be tested for driving while intoxicated, and who should loose his driver license altogether before he does the same to a pedestrian.

    • Nah, I disagree. We know how these people drive. They think they own the road. They are arrogant narcissistic selfish grubby people. They’re too important to be hampered or slowed down by some silly firetruck. They’ve got things to do and places to go. The driver misjudged and thought that he was skilled enough to beat the truck across the street. I’ve seen this countless times. Also, put down your damn phone, stop texting, and concentrate on your driving!

  7. Should have the firetruck come to a stop or slow down at least when approaching an intersection? Could be the drive of the car did not know from where the siren was coming from.

  8. “Sechel” “Wong Chu” “When will these selfish people learn their lesson?” all of you are so fast to judge…

Look closely at the second and even first video, this poor driver had a fire engine 221 coming from the left and ladder truck 119 coming from his rear.

He was clearly confused with all the sirens blaring from all sides, as you can see he stopped initially but spotted the ladder truck from his rear mirror that probably caused the kneejerk reaction to move forward.

  9. please be mispalel for Ahron ben Blima who was seriously hurt in a similar accident two weeks in Boro Park. There the fire truck went through a red light.
