The list of tips put out by the Chicgo Fire Department and Chicago Hatzolah is not to leave lit flames unattended. This video clearly shows that the candles were still lit with out anyone in the room.
I disagree, unattended means unattended. Being upstairs when an open flame is lit is not considered attended. I heard this from Rabbi Paysach Krohn who was talking about making sure an adult stays up Friday night until the candles burn out even during the summer months.

Use an electric Menora is better even a LED light is preferable.
Put an aluminum/foil tray under the menorah so it cannot drip onto floor. Covers for 9×13 pans work well as menorah trays.

no but someone is in the room while the menora’s are lit.
