  1. It is noteworthy that this day (of September 1 with the start of the Nazi invasion) of that (1939) year was an Erev Shabbos, which is the sixth day of the week. The Parsha HaShavua of that week was (what is the Parsha of this week now) “Ki Savo.” Our Sacred Seforim explain that the Parsha of each week is the Spiritual “energy” of that week, and that each Aliya of the Parsha corresponds and is the Spiritual “energy” of each day of that week. (I.e., the first Aliya corresponds to the fist day of the week, the second Aliya to the second day of the week, and so on.)

So, again, Sept 1, 1939 was an Erev Shabbos, the sixth day of the week; the Parsha that week was Ki Savo, and the sixth Aliya of Parshas Ki Savo is the long Tochecha.
