President-elect Donald Trump has promised to deport millions of immigrants in what would be the largest deportation operation in U.S. history. One cost estimate has his plan at $315 billion – that’s more than the government spends on most federal agencies. Roughly 13 million immigrants who entered the country illegally are at risk of deportation.

WSJ breaks down the logistics and explains why an operation of this scale could require hundreds of billions of dollars over the course of a decade.

  1. The question is NOT how much it will cost, but how much MORE it will cost than what is being spent currently.

A point not stressed enough is that deportations under the Obama administration were possibly much higher than what is being proposed not.

Another item being understated is that Mr. Trump says clearly he wishes to begin with criminals.

Another concern which needs to stressed is the percentage of crime being currently committed by illegal immigrants.
