In the 1930s, the President of Poland came to visit a Duke who lived in the town of my grandfather, ZTz”L, HY”D. The Jewish dignitaries of the town came out to greet the President with a Sefer Torah under a chuppah. My grandfather was given the kavod of holding the Sefer Torah. We have a picture of that event.
