  1. Places like MMA and boxing rings are not our places.

    ויעקב איש תם יושב אהלים

אדם, בפרט איש מכלל ישראל, צריך לידע את מקומו

  2. In full agreement with the above Commentators. The vocal ‘rampage’ fits “Y’Dei Esov”. Not a very nice visual display for a Jewish ‘Boy’. This posting not suited for a ‘Frum’ website.

  3. While it is commendable that he attributes his victory to where he should. It is a little fanatical in expresion. Lending itself to be more of an of an oddity than a kiddush Hashem, the way i see it.
Derech Eretz means normalcy and civility too. If you have the right message in your heart but its conveyed in a strange way, the message can get lost or even backfire.

  4. ridiculous. whats wrong?? were in shulchan aruch does it say yu cant do it? on this rav kalman krohn ZT”L used to quote a memra from the brisker rav, that “even the little children in eretz yisroel know better than the rabonim in chutz laaretz”. disgraceful.
besides for the fact theres no mitzvah of tzitzis by night.

  5. I recall a few years ago when there were two Russian Lubavitch BT boxers competing, Dmitri Salita and Yuri Foreman. They has some initial success and some in the frum world were going gaga over them, attending fights, cheering them on.

A far-sighted individual then spoke out against making them into our heroes. Later on, they both suffered stinging, humiliating defeats, and stepped back from the ring.

Foreman, who had been ordained by Lubavitcher Rabbi Dov Ber Pinson, fought on Friday night (Shabbos) and lost (http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/223321).

Salita also lost his once perfect record and went down to defeat.
