  1. It unfortunate that this Rabbi is not more familiar with the teackings of R’ Nacman and his main talmid R’ Nosson. It is true that R Nachman never said “befeirush” to come to his grave on Rosh Hashana. However R’ Nosson said that it was understood from his torah and from his talks with his talmidim that “coming to a Tzadik on Rosh Hashana wouls apply also to his grave”. It therefore become a custom to travel to Uman as the talmidim did when he was alive. Just like it is understood for example that Belzer chasidim from around the world travel to Yerushalayim to be with the Rebbe so to Breslover chasiddim go to Uman.

Of course most Chasidim wouldnt put themselves in a Sakana although there have been Chasidim who traveled by boat to be there. These are documented stories.

  3. Putting his nose where it doesn’t belong. Who is he compared to the giants that would go and encouraged others to go He should think twice before saying things like he usualy does you would think he had learnt his lesson

  4. Can’t get to Uman by ship – Uman is way inland; Odessa, which is about 160 miles away – days of travel in the old days, is the closest one can get by ship. The surrounding area was heavily populated by Jews, so people were within the accessible distance of slow travel by a horse drawn carriage or arduous walking. Traveling between Eastern Europe and Eretz Yisroel was time consuming, dangerous, and prohibitively expensive. So while it’s true that it would be very extraordinary for someone to come to Uman from Eretz Yisroel just for Rosh Hashana, there was a local Jewish population numbering millions within the week or two of slow travel distance radius. Besides, Rav Nachman lived 200 years ago, not 250. Nothing against Rabbi Mizrachi, but he’d make a better point if he fact checks thoroughly.

  5. ” He never said Chiyuv.”

No, but it seems like he did. He might as well.

Insinuations can be worse because there’s no way to really refute them. It’s hard to argue with an amorphous idea.

  6. I’m glad to see that Rabbi Mizrachi is not being attacked in order to take pressure off of those who have destroyed lives by forgetting al tehi dan yechidi

  7. Here we go again. Does anyone really think he cares about people going to human for Rosh Hashanah any more than if a group of Jews would go on a safari in Africa every year?? This is obviously an excerpt from a longer speech in which he is making a point about believing the written word of man vs. G=d

  8. I have been to uman three times going back like 17 years ago. Rabbi Mizrachi in fact teaches from breslev seforim. I witnessed it myself. Going to uman is ok but there is a significant amount of wrong type of people there too. Parents must accompany teenage kids and even those in their twenties. Hamaven yovin

  9. Reb Nachman was obviously referring to those who were within reach. That did not include Eretz Yisroel of 200 years ago. It can ,however, include the entire world of today. An apology to the true Breslover chassidim would be appropriate. As for those who go for the wrong reasons, that’s another story entirely and should not reflect on the sincere, authentic, and devout followers of Breslov.

  10. I didnt even hear his speech…but this mass exodus to Uman
It became a,TRIP like Lag B’omer…people, please dont kud yourselves.
People are going for ethe excitement more tgan anything. Stay home and daven with kavana in your own shuls, with your kids by your side! Thats what Hadhem wants.
