Last night, Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin, rosh yeshiva of Mesivta of Lakewood and member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel, addressed a parlor meeting at the home of Dovid Fischer on Melissa Lee Drive in Jackson to benefit the Vaad Hatzalah of Ukrainian Jewry.
The event featured a live on-site Zoom report from the war zone by Rabbi Moshe Fhima and rescue effort updates from Rabbi Rachamim Sultan.
During his remarks, Rav Sorotzkin said that, “People don’t realize that Russia has one mission: to destroy Ukraine totally. [Russian President Vladimir] Putin has come out and said it. He’s not in a rush. He’s going to make sure that every single city gets bombed out. This is the master plan of this rasha. But he did it slowly, so people get used to it and they don’t uproar.”
He added, “Rachama litzlan, they’re drafted in the army and they’re in danger of their lives. To get every Yid out costs tens of thousands of dollars. And you can’t imagine how many people need this. They have to get them out of the country. They have to be able to give them the the food, the shelter, the schooling for their children. We have no idea how much money, how many millions of dollars are still needed.”
