Florida resident Michael Fromhold got a shock recently when he visited a local Walmart store and saw that the meat was locked up to stop customers from stealing it. He filmed Angus beef steaks wrapped in mesh wiring with electronic security tags.
He shared the video on TikTok where it went viral, sparking a heated discussion about inflation and rising crime rates in the US.
While some viewers were outraged to learn that Walmart had taken such precautionary measures, others said there was nothing surprising about “locking up” meat given the rising crime rate. There were also some who said that stealing meat was now the only way to afford it. “I don’t know which is worse – the fact that it’s locked up or that it’s almost $21,” one of the commentators wrote. Not kosher.
does the store have a choice? What would be better, the store should close its doors. Feel very sorry for these business owners.
Well. Like baby other stores have/had,,,, receipt checkers by the exit !!
Now nobody could complain that specifically “black hair products” are under lock at the stores.
Retailers have three choices – keep the items secured, not sell them at all, or go out of business, altogether.
Which would you prefer, if you are an honest shopper, who doesn’t steal?
I prefer they go out of business
the fact that it’s not kosher has nothing to do with the horror of ‘locking it up’. legitimate businesses of any product have a right to keep their merchandise safe, whether its steaks, jewelry or toilet paper. the shameless shoplifting that the government is allowing affects all of us
lends new meaning to “beefing up security”…
