It was a brief moment, but a touching one, at Sunday night’s Adirei HaTorah event at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The staff of the arena had never before seen an event like that one.
The people, the ruach, the speeches, the decorum, the singing and dancing – it was like nothing they had ever witnessed.
So what was it all about? For whom and about whom? Many of the arena staff wondered about these things.
One person took the time to explain it to a couple of officers at the stadium. That person was the Telshe Yeshiva-Chicago rosh yeshiva, Rav Shmuel Yeshaya Keller, and the encounter was captured on video, as the rosh yeshiva, with his characteristic warmth and ne’imus, patiently explained what the event was all about, what “Lakewood” is, and why 25,000 were paying homage in such an unprecedented way.
