Tens of thousands of French well-wishers waved revoir to the largest cruise ship in the world as it set sail on its maiden voyage to the U.K. after 32 months in a French shipyard, CBS NEWS reports.

The $1 billion Harmony of the Seas cut a gargantuan silhouette Sunday as it left the western port town of Saint-Nazaire.

At 362 meters (1,187 feet) long, CBS NEWS says, the 16-deck ship is bigger that the Eiffel Tower and holds the record for being the widest cruise ship ever built – boasting a 6,360-passenger capacity. It’s been compared to a floating city with more than 2,500 staterooms, 20 dining venues, 23 swimming pools and a park with more than 10,000 plants and 50 trees.

  1. Pretty neat. Good to see you can go on a non-kosher cruise!

Special. Did we not realize that we could have been covering news from the Cleveland, Baltimore, Miami or Denver Jewish Orthodox community instead?

But of course this is fine. The other jewish news sources took the story too but Matzav is supposed to be more Torah!

Will we all sail first or just go to the casino on board? Either way, its pagan.

    Shalom.

    • I agree with you 100% – my comentary was on the ironic side –
But unfortunatly there are many yidn that will be very happy to travel on this kind of pleasurable trips. Lets not talk about the gashmudike “kosher” tralvels all over the worl..

    • Someone built the job nag of bad mitzvahs on Fox news too. I wonder if it will sink or better yet how much it has already sunk. Functioning ships are probably far less dangerous.
