sassoon[Reposted by request.] Jews the world over are davening for the speedy recovery of Mrs. Gayle Sassoon, Gila bas Frances, and her daughter, Tziporah bas Gila.

Likewise, people are learning and performing mitzvos li’illui nishmas the Sassoon children, Eliane, 16; Rivkah, 11; Sara, 6; Dovid, 12; Yehoshua, 10; Moshe, 8; and Yaakov.

Finally, we are all davening that their father, Reb Gavriel, a courageous and bitachon-filled man, will have the strength to handle this difficult nisayon.

It was proposed by a leading rov that we offer readers here on Matzav an opportunity to share below the good deed(s) that they have accepted upon themselves as a zechus for the Sassoon children and as a merit for the complete recovery of their beloved mother and sister. It can be a “small” kabbolah like saying Asher Yotzar one time each day with complete kavanah or being careful about shemiras halashon for one hour each day. It can be taking on to learn a masechta, a mussar sefer or something else that will raise one’s level of spirituality or character. It can be a kabbolah to speak nicely to others or to perform an act of chessed each day. Whatever it is, please share your kabbolah below so that it can inspire others and so that this list can eventually be shared with Rabbi and Mrs. Sassoon, Tziporah, and their extended family.

May our merits accrue so that we can all be reunited with the entire Sassoon family with the ultimate geulah.

  1. I am mekabel to say Asher Yotzar word for word, as slow as I can, and have kavanah of what the words mean.

Hamakom yenachem eschem bsoch shear avelilei Tzion vYerushalayim. We are with you in your tzaar.

  2. I’m working on bringing moire shiduchim ointo this world. There are far way too many singles over 35 years old. I was just spekaing with a a great fellow a Bal-medos coming from a great family that went to the best yeashvia’s working CPA and he can’t find a shidduch. The worst is when he tell me had he been non- shomer shabbos his chances of finding a wife would much greater.

  3. At the levaya, Reb Gavriel urged us all to “love our children.” I’d like to take it upon myself bli neder to keep my smartphone in my pocket when playing and spending time with the kids, giving them the undivided attention they deserve and need.

  4. I ask Hashem to please guide me not to hurt others and not to judge others. May Hashem treist you, dear Sasson family and may you continue to have faith in Hashem and remember Hashem is holding your hand every second
from the bottom of my heart I wish upon you LIFE

  5. FYI, I was informed that the family’s Rav, Rav Cherba, has directed that for Gayle (THE MOTHER) all names be used that she is known by.
Rav Cherba’s psak is to use these names:

GILSOM GILA GAYLE bat TZIPORAH FRANCES
and the daughter is TZIPORAH bat GAYLE

She is named for her grandmother GILSOM (Arabic—a Syrian name) as are many of her cousins. Her husband calls her Gila. Her friends call her Gayle and her mother is Tziporah but everyone calls her by Frances.

So if you want the most for your Tehillim readings go by Rav Cherba’s psak and use these:

GILSOM GILA GAYLE bat TZIPORAH FRANCES
and the daughter is TZIPORAH bat GAYLE

May they have a Refuah Shelaima b’soch kol Cholei Yisroel

  6. the name is
mother: gilsom gila gail bas frances tziporah
    daughter: tziporah bas gila gail
that is what we were told at the tehillim group we did with all of the sassoons close friends in israel
they were told this by the father

  7. Say brachos on food loud and clear having more kavana that everything is from Hashem.
May we hear besuros tovos with the ultimate Geula Now!

  8. Many people drive cars even after the zman of hadlokah. I have seen cars looking for parking after the shkiah. Let us all be mekabel not to drive so late. Shmiras Shabbos is a shmirah for us all. We should also learn the halochos of shabbos and follow them meticulously.

  9. I am a Rebbe out of town. My students and I were Mikabel that the first half hour of class would be interruption free, and fully focused on the Gemara.

  10. I will try bli neder to be more patient with my children and to express to each one of them on a daily basis that I lovethem

  11. my sister cut 4 inches of her hair in a zechus for them. My class is going to try to be extra quiet in a few teachers classes in school. I also heard from a a Rav that every home should try to not have anger/fighting in there home on shabbos. I think in 6 months from now matzav should post a reminder to all of us to keep our kabalos.

  12. I WILL TRULY TRY NOT TO SPEAK NEGATIVELY ON ANYONE FOR ONE HOUR DAILY. I WILL HAVE THEM IN MIND BY MY PRAYERS. I DAVEN FOR THEM THAT HAKODOSH BARUCH HU COMFORT THEM AMONGST THE MOURNERS OF YERUSHALAYIM AND MAY WE ALL BE REDEEMED SPEEDILY IN OUR DAYS!

  13. when I met the Sassoon children, every brocha was said loud and clearly with kavanah, that every person can say , Amen. Ill try to that in my family

  14. With tears in my eyes I bli neder will try to love and not judge people. May we all become One and moshiach come immediately.

  15. I have been mikabel, bli neder, to begin saying krias shema al hamittah each night. May Hashem shower only revealed good upon this family and all of klal yisrael.

  16. since this tragedy happened on Shabbos, I would like to strengthen my shemiras Shabbos. I am currently doing some construction work in the basement of my house, and this past Shabbos morning I went down to the basement to see the progress. for the next couple of weeks while the construction is going on, I will bli neder not go down to the basement on Shabbos- so as not to think/plan about a chol activity on Shabbos.

secondly, I have a habit at times to bite my fingernails or pull off a bit of skin around my fingernails. although i try not to, out of habit, sometimes i do this on Shabbos. I will take upon myself not to even look at my fingernails the entire Shabbos so as not to come to violate Shabbos in this way

  17. I have taken to daven every day cover my hair and bake challah every week may hashem help each one of you who took upon themselves to do a mitzva that with every day the mitzva will begin to be a ritual such as washing your hands in morning Shabbat shalom and may Hashem send us moshiach today

  18. I will BliNeder spend less time on the internet. wow they took the blow for Klal Yisrael we owe them big time. Such a Kidush Hashem the father. Refua and GEULA-:)

  19. My class was mkabel to bli neder say brachons out loud and say amen and keep track of it on a chart. On shabbat when they cant keep track , they will iyH say the passuk of shema yisrael with kavana.
I will bli neder make shabbos more shabbosdik, not sleep as much and learn from Rabbi Ribiats sefer on hilchos shabbbos.

  20. I will try to not be nichshal in lashon hara for an hour each day.
May Hashem give you the kochot you need and a true nechama and may we be zoche to biat mashiach this year along with tchiyat hametim

  21. I took upon myself one area in Tznius that needs improvement.

I also try to follow the advice given at the Chai Lifeline gathering: each family member shares one or more events in their day where they were able to see Hashem specifically involved in their day and felt his love, concern, and protection on a personal level.

  22. I HAVE ARRANGED A TELECONFERENCE FOR OUR EXTENDED FAMILY TO LEARN CHOFETZ CHAIM – LESSON A DAY. HILCHOS SHMIRAS HALASHON L’ILUI NISHMAS AND L’REFUAH SHELEIMA

MAY WE ALL GREET MOSHIACH THIS YEAR

  23. This is a beautiful thread.
May we unite as freely in sharing each others’ simchos, and may they be too numerous to count.
May HKB”H bring a refuas hanefesh and refuas haguf to the family.
    Chag kasher v’sameach.

  24. I saw the beautiful sassoon family picture and noted how mrs sassoon has a beautiful shaitel yet is very tzuna, i cut my longest shaitel and i took upon myself to be careful to cover my hair even at night, and therefore i went out and bought 2 chenelle snoods which stay on the head better.

  25. I TOOK UPON MYSELF TO SAT KERIAT SHEMA EVERY NIGHT IN A SIDDUR.OT PROTECTS YOU FROM ANY TZARAH.

BEE’ZRAT HASHEM MAY WE SEE THE MASHIACH THIS YEAR!!!

  26. i threw out a medical book that has pictures that i wouldn’t want my children to see. i had been holding on to it for years debating if i should keep it or not. may the family have a nechomah

  27. HASHEM YISBARACH, LOOK AT THESE COMMENTS!! WHAT OTHER NATION CAN EVEN COMPARE?? PLEASE GRANT US THE GEULAH BKAROV MAMESH!

  28. How about we stop talking during Davening in Shul, specially during Chazaras HaShaz and Kaddish. This will benefit not only the Sasoon family but ALL of Klal Yisroel.

  29. This past Friday in the shul where I daven, I felt an urge to check the battery in the defibrillator that is placed atop a bookshelf towards the back of the room. Rather than viewing the assumed green pulse of a properly charged battery, the glass circle was a lifeless black. As I took the defibrillator out of the metal case, I noticed a spare battery lying on its side. Opening up the back of the life saving device to replace the battery, I was horrified to discover that the battery compartment was empty! As I placed the “reserve” battery in its place, the defibrillator began a self-test and responded with a series of loud beeps followed by a piercing message of’ “low battery, low battery.” The message did not cease until the battery was removed. I was aghast that someone had heard the “low battery” message from the original battery and had not bothered to inform anyone that a replacement battery was necessary. G-d forbid that someone would have relied upon a defibrillator with no lifesaving ability. Without question, the person did not value the consequences of his actions and should be judged for no ill.

As we heard the news of this weekend’s tragedy in Brooklyn, the loss of seven precious innocent souls, all of us experienced the instant sense of a drained essence, our energy was for a moment depleted. As we have penned during previous tragedies, we ultimately remain silent towards the ways of Hashem. We dare however not allow the momentary shock to our system be set aside as if no alarm was heard. To do so would leave us with an empty opportunity to elevate these holy children.

    As part of his eulogy, the father, may he be consoled among the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalayim, pleaded;

Please everybody, love your child, love your children, love other’s children, understand them, don’t negate them.

Rather than spend today, and days yet to come, focusing upon the details of this horrific event, begin today to choose a child, a grandchild, a student in you classroom, and use your heartfelt words to energize a soul that is screaming “low battery.” I need your hug, your warmth, your love.

Not only today, during the next few weeks before Pesach, choose seven different children in memory of Eliane16; David12; Rivka 11; Yehoshua 10; Moshe 8; Sarah 6 and Yaakov 5, and offer words of encouragement, words of empowerment.

Write down a list of seven children: your own, your relatives, your friends, your own students. Little children, adult children. Offer your heart, whisper a word.

Please everybody, love a child. Today.

  30. I continue my commitment to tznius by designing and sewing modest clothing al pi halacha and providing free sewing lessons

  31. I just started learning Seder Kodshim (beginning with Masechs Zevachim and dealing with the laws of Korbanos) l’iluy nishmas the seven pure Korbanos that were taken from Klal Yisrael.

  32. I have shortened my wig, taken upon myself to make netilla after the bathroom, say asher yazar loudly and with kavana, and to keep my hair covered till i get into bed.

  33. these are all beautiful and so inspiring. I will, bli neder, try to encourage each of my children and my spouse with more compliments based on something they are doing/ just did : so it makes a true impact (vs just a general compliment.)

  34. I am taking on myself, bli neder, to smile towards my husband and children (even when I don’t feel like it)and Thank Hashem for every ordinary moment

  35. Every day when I dress in a tzeniut way, I will say that I’m wearing it leshem shamayim and leiluy nishmat the Sassoon children.

  36. I want to take on bli neder saying asher yatzar once a day slowly with kavanah on the meaning of the words, illuy nishmas for the children and a refuah for both mother and daughter. We should only know amazingly wonderful things for Klal Yisroel! Eish echad b’lev echad!

  37. I asked myself what message a fire consuming these beautiful children has for me. When I get angry at my husband in front of our children, that is a fire that sears them. I am therefore mekabel upon myself b’li neder to read Anger, The Inner Teacher by R’ Zelig Pliskin for 5 minutes a day and to refrain from expressing anger towards my husband in front of our children.

May Hashem grant the Sassoons the strength to go on and all of us the strength to fulfill our Kabbalos.

  38. This is so beautiful. ..
I’m bn taking on to daven schachrus with more kavonoh
Halevai we should only hear good news
And moshiach should come very soon

  39. I have taken upon myself to make sure my knees are covered when getting in and out of the car and to have more kavannah when saying berachot leiluy nishmat the Sassoon children and for a refuah shelemah for the mother and daughter. Hashem should watch over the Sassoon family and bring them only semachot for the rest of their lives

  40. I will bln judge favorably the children who are going off the derech. I find this very hard, somehow my reaction to hearing each new story is that these children are spoiled. I will work hard to have more sympathy to them, to imagine they are in some pain.

  41. Give an eternal Zechus to the Sassoon family!
