President Donald Trump continues to express full confidence in the medical staff assigned to the White House, even as speculation swirls around whether those same physicians might have failed to detect prostate cancer in Joe Biden during his time in office.

During a media briefing on Monday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reaffirmed that President Trump is in strong health and maintains full faith in his medical care. Her remarks come amid growing questions following Biden’s announcement over the weekend that he has been diagnosed with advanced, stage 4 prostate cancer—a disease that typically progresses over many years before detection.

During the briefing, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy pressed Leavitt, asking, “White House doctors may have missed the early stages of his prostate cancer. So is President Trump worried about the quality of care that presidents get here?”

“Not as far as President Trump is concerned. The White House physician we have here is phenomenal,” Leavitt responded. “The team of physicians that take care of the president, particularly at Walter Reed Medical Center, are great. The president had his physical recently, as you know, he had, perfect results. He’s in very good shape.”

She went on to highlight Trump’s recent international travel as proof of his robust stamina and overall well-being. “I think those of you who traveled to the Middle East with us last week can attest to the president’s endurance. And by the way, I will add, we returned home from a very long and tiring trip last week, and on Saturday, where was the president? In the Oval Office, working all day. He doesn’t stop. He doesn’t quit. He’s in great health and he trusts his physicians,” she added.

In a show of goodwill, Trump shared a message on Truth Social over the weekend expressing sympathy for Biden and his family, following the news of Biden’s health crisis.

“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

Leavitt also told members of the press that there has not been any direct communication between Trump and Biden since the cancer diagnosis was made public. However, she noted that the president would not be opposed to a conversation.

Biden’s team released a formal statement on Sunday confirming that he had received a diagnosis of prostate cancer, noting that the cancer is aggressive and has already spread to his bones.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” Biden’s team shared in a statement. “On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”

Despite the severity of the illness, Biden’s medical team said there was reason for cautious optimism, thanks to the nature of the cancer.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians,” the statement said.

At 82 years old, Biden remains the oldest sitting president in American history.
