The World Health Organization is set to miss its targeted goals to curb the outbreak of Ebola in Africa. Two months ago, WHO announced its goal to safely isolate 70 percent of all Ebola patients and safely bury 70 percent of all victims in the hardest-hit countries: Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. It looks like these targets will only be met in Guinea.

In Liberia, only 23 percent of Ebola patients have been isolated and just 26 percent of needed burial teams are operational.

In Sierra Leone, 40 percent of Ebola cases have been safely isolated and 27 percent of burial teams are operational.

“There are still going to be many people who catch the disease and many people who die from it,” said Anthony Banbury, head of the UN’s Ebola response. Over 5,600 have died of Ebola during this recent outbreak. Read more.
